No Face amigurumi
Let’s step into the whimsical world of Spirited Away with this adorable No-Face amigurumi! Perfect project for beginners and Ghibli fans alike, this tiny spirit is easy to make and irresistibly charming.
Pattern notes:
Inspired by the magical ‘Spirited Away’ from Studio Ghibli, this pattern is purely fan art, made with love and respect for the original creators. All rights to the character belongs to Studio Ghibli.
Instructions:
This pattern is written in US English terms and worked in continuous rounds.
Materials needed:
- Thin velvet yarn in Black and white colour.
- 3 mm crochet hook.
- 10 mm flatback or safety eyes.
- Small amount of felt in purple.
- Black embroidery thread.
- Yarn needle/Scissors/Glue.
Stitches/ Abbreviations:
- R – round/ row.
- Ch – chain.
- St(s) – stitch(es).
- Sc – single crochet.
- Inc – increase (2sc in one st).
- Dec – decrease (sc 2 st together).
- bo – bobble stitch.
- Sl st – slip stitch.
- […] – repeat the instructions given in between the brackets.
- (…) – total number of stitches.
Head and body:
Using Black yarn,
R1: 7 sc in a magic ring (7).
R2: [ Inc ] x 7 (14).
R3: [ Sc, inc ] x 7 (21).
R4: [ Sc, inc, sc ] x 7 (28).
R5-9: Sc in each st (28) – 5 rounds.
R10: [ Sc 6, inc ] x 4 (32).
R11: Sc 11, bo, sc 9, bo, sc 10 (32).
R12-13: Sc in each st (32) – 2 rounds.
R14: [ Sc 7, inc ] x 4 (36).
R15-17: Sc in each st (36) – 3 rounds.
R18: (Work in BLO) Sc in each st (36).
R19: [ Sc, dec ] x 12 (24).
R20: [ Sc, dec ] x 8 (16).
R21: Dec x 8 (8).
Fasten off and leave a long tail. Weave the yarn tail through the front loops of the remaining 8 stitches. Pull tight to close the hole and weave in the yarn tail.
Face:
Using white yarn,
R1: ch 4, starting from 2nd ch on hook, sc 2, 3 sc in last ch. Continue to work on other side of the chain and sc, inc in last (8).
R2: Inc, sc, inc x 3, sc, inc x 2 (14).
R3: Sc, inc, sc, (sc, inc) x 3, sc, (sc, inc) x 2 (20).
R4: Sc 2, inc, sc, (sc 2, inc ) x 3, sc 3, inc, sc 2, inc (26).
Fasten off invisibly leaving a long tail for sewing.
Glue 9 mm flatback eyes between R2- R3.
Embroider a small smile using black thread.
Sew the face to the head between R5-R13.
Finally, cut 4 small triangles in purple felt and glue it at the top and bottom of both the eyes.
And your cute little spirit is now ready!
