I’ve been using Chenille yarn for most of my projects these days. Who wouldn’t love soft and fluffy looking amis, right? Today i’m up with a cute Amigurumi chick pattern. She comes with a little hat too. Hope you’ll enjoy making her!

Instructions:
This pattern is written in US English terms and worked in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise.
Materials needed:
- Chunky weight Chenille/velvet yarn in yellow, orange and pink colour.
- DK or worsted weight yarn in orange colour.
- 5 mm hook.
- 8 mm safety eyes.
- Fiberfill for stuffing.
- Tapestry needle.
- Pink felt or yarn for blush.
Stitches/ Abbreviations
- R – round/ row.
- ch – chain.
- st(s) – stitch(es).
- sc – single crochet.
- inc – increase (2 sc in one st).
- dec – decrease (sc 2 st together).
- hdc – half double crochet.
- hdc inc – half double crochet increase.
- bo – bobble stitch.
- sl st – slip stitch.
- FLO – front loops only.
- […] – repeat the instructions given in between the brackets.
- (…) – total number of stitches.
Chick:
Using yellow chenille yarn,
R1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6).
R2: Inc x 6 (12).
R3: [ Sc, inc ] x 6 (18).
R4: Sc in each st (18).
R5: [ Sc 2, inc ] x 6 (24).
R6: Sc in each st (24).
R7: Sc 7, bo, sc 8, bo, sc 7 (24).
R8: [ Sc 3, inc ] x 6 (30).
R9: Sc in each st (30).
R10: [ Sc 3, dec ] x 6 (24).
Insert 8 mm safety eyes between R6 and R7, with 5 stitches in between.
R11: [ Sc 2, dec ] x 6 (18).
Stuff firmly with fiberfill and continue to stuff till the end.
R12: [ Sc, dec ] x 6 (12).
R13: Dec x 6 (6).
Fasten off and weave yarn tail through front loops of remaining stitches. Pull tight to close the hole.
Assembling:
- Using DK/worsted weight yarn in orange, embroider the mouth in between the eyes.
- Using orange chenille yarn, sew 3 to 4 vertical lines on both sides of R11 for the legs.
- Add in blush using pink yarn or felt.
Hat:
Using pink chenille yarn,
R1: 7 sc in a magic ring (7).
R2: Inc x 7 (14).
R3: [ Sc, inc ] x 7 (21).
R4-5: Sc in each st (21).
Sl st to the front loop of first st.
R6 ( working in FLO): Ch 2, hdc in first st, [ hdc, hdc inc ] x 10 (31).
Sl st to the second chain at the start of R6.
Fasten off and weave in ends (if you don’t want to attach hat to the head).
If you wish to attach, sew the backloops made on R6 of the hat to the head.
And your cute little chick is now ready!
