Adventures in amigurumi, crochet and more
Invisible fasten off /Invisible finish is a very useful technique in amigurumi that gives a very smooth finish to your amigurumi.
We often finish off our amigurumi pieces with a slip stitch. It tends to leave an uneven and bumpy look when we finish off the same way in open edge pieces. Open edge pieces are the ones where the edges are visible in the finished amigurumi. Here’s where the invisible fasten off comes in handy.
I have provided a step by step instruction on how to finish off invisibly in amigurumi pieces below.
1.Complete the last stitch of the final round as instructed in your pattern and cut the yarn in desired length. Pull the yarn tail all the way through the last stitch.
2. Thread the yarn tail onto yarn needle, skip the next stitch.
Now insert the yarn needle from front to back under both the loops of the next stitch.
3. Insert the needle into the back loop of the last stitch and into the back post behind the stitch . Now you would have made a false stitch that looks similar to other stitches
Tighten the new loop made until it’s the same size of other stitches. Now you’ve successfully fastened off invisibly your amigurumi piece.
You can clearly see the difference between normal and invisible fasten off in the above pictures.
This technique is very handy and I have used them in lot of my patterns including amigurumi tiger (for muzzle and belly patch) and Among us amigurumi (for the face mirror).
I really hope this tutorial is useful. Will see you all with a new post soon 🙂
